Overview

The study revealed that 96.3% of microenterprises (MEs) have adopted at least one environmentally sustainable practice (ESP) in their enterprises, with most practicing for more than 12 months. The majority are interested in continuing the ESP with their own finances, while 62.5% are interested in financing it. The average establishment cost of ESP is within 1000 taka, and maintenance costs range from 0–500-taka BDT for 91.8% of MEs. Most MEs are satisfied with the adoption of ESP, but only a small percentage express interest in continuing it at their own cost. 80.0% of MEs adopted awareness notices, but only 36.3% expressed a desire to continue the ESP in the future. 93.1% of MEs practiced the adopted ESP, and 76.9% are interested in continuing the practices in the future. Less than half of MEs have access to common services, while 57.5% demand common services in their cluster. 81.9% of MEs received capacity-building training from partner organizations. Most MEs received loans for their enterprises, with 68.1% making a profit after expending the loan money. Most MEs do not conduct collective business, and only 0.6% are willing to conduct collective business in the future.
