Dr. Md. Fakrul Islam is one of the most leading resource person of the Bangladesh Research Institute for Development (BRID). Mr. Fakrul is working as a professor, Department of Social work, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Mr. Fakrul completed his MBGPH degree from American University of Sovereign Nations, Arizona, USA in Bio-ethics and Global Public Health on “Assessing Quality of Life of the Rural Elderly in Bangladesh” in 2016. Mr. Fakrul awarded for his PhD degree on “A Policy Measure for Optimal Water Resource Utilization and Alleviation of Socio-environmental Problems in the Teesta River Basin, Bangladesh and India” from University of Tsukuba, Japan in 2003. He completed his MESc Degree from the same university on An Analysis of the Socio-economic and Environmental Problems of the Teesta River Area, Bangladesh in 1998. He also completed his MSS and BSS degree in social Welfare, Institute of Social Welfare and Research from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1989 and 1988 respectively. Mr. Fakrul was awarded for many scholarships such as General Merit Scholarship 1983, General Merit Scholarship in 1985, General Merit Scholarship in 1988, MONBOSHO Scholarship 1997-1999, MONBUSHO Scholarship 2000-2003, and JSPS Fellowship for 2018-2019. Along with, Mr. Fakrul has awarded many academic awards and reorganizations from universities and centers. Before him joining in Social Work Department, He served as a teacher in Social Work department in Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet. Mr. Fakrul also experienced with holding various chairs in academic, institutes, councils, associations, Samiti, and organizations. During his professional life, he supervised over hundreds of students of their advance degrees. He is still supervising the university teachers for their pursuing PhD degree from respective department or Institutes. He published over two hundreds of articles, papers, books, and research articles in multidimensional issues and subjects. He chaired lots of national and international conferences and workshops in or outside of the country.
