Overview
Gaibandha is a district in the northern part of Bangladesh, situated in the Rangpur Division. Gaibandha Sadar Upazila, the focus area of this program, is surrounded by Sundarganj, Rajibpur, Dewanganj, Saghata, Fulchhari, Palashbari and Sadullapur Upazilas. The area covers approximately 324.05 square kilometres, and the total population within this area is 437,268, with 109,628 households according to the Census Report 2011 of the Government of Bangladesh. Gaibandha AP conducted a community engagement process and identified potential vulnerabilities, challenges, potential risks, and coping strategies against child well-being. For the first phase implementation (FY 23-25), the AP chose technical programs (TP) and its AP models, considering budget, duration, and life cycles of target beneficiaries, especially registered children (RCs). To address other prioritized CWB issues and contribute more to the most vulnerable families, especially children, the AP will implement the following projects: Integrated Education & Child Protection TP, Health Nutrition and WASH TP, and Community Engagement and Sponsorship Planning (CESP).
However, in line with LEAP guidelines, BRID after signing agreement with World Vission Bangladesh is conducting a baseline and GEDSI assessment in Gaibandha AP to assess the current situation of the WV program and project goal, outcomes indicators, and development areas. The study will also assess the community’s readiness to take responsibility for future sustained development.
